All of the parts are sitting in a bucket full of oil, so this is what I remember was with it: I will also ask the guys at the local gun store for help, they are pretty knowledgeable. I'm sure there will be a gun show coming this way soon. I will try to build it back to GI style and with GI parts (if i can find them). They do have a fair amount of surface rust but no pitting and they cleaned up fairly easily with a little steel wool although they will have to be re-parkerized. To answer a few questions, I believe it is the original slide and frame because they fit together very well. Definitely cool to have a piece of history. So what yall think? I'm thinking about trying to rebuild using wilson combat parts and others. It did have the hammer, sights, extractor, grip safety(badly rusted), safety. it is missing the barrel, barrel bushing, firing pin, main spring housing, slide stop, trigger and plenty other stuff. Well after a little steel wool I got the serial number and all of the frame. In it is the slide and frame of that 1911 and the first thing I notice is it said Remington on the slide. but yesterday i met my dad for coffee and he said, "oh take a look in that rag" pointing to a rolled up rag on the table. (he has a xdsc, and springfield 1911 on order to replace the colt i bought from him)Īnyway, he had all but forgot about that 1911 frame. Fast-forward several years and since then I have gotten my dad back into shooting and guns. Well in it was a rusty 1911 frame and slide and some miscellaneous parts, so he oil them up wrapped them in a rag and put them away in a drawer in his workshop. Well actually, i don't have the whole gun but here is the story.Īpparently several years back while I was in college someone gave my oldman a box of gun parts that they found or didn't want or something.
